Sea Of Thieves Shows Pirates Of The Caribbean Gameplay, More Coming This Weekend

It's really good now, plenty of stuff to do, but the game doesn't hand hold you. It is one of those types of sandbox games where you need to set up your own goals. Explore, battle, solve riddles and more in a world of real players.

The freedom of pirate life awaits in Rare’s next adventurous voyage. Shown off as part of the Xbox Games Showcase Extended broadcast last night, the expansion will feature five new Tall Tales and see pirates interact with characters like Davy Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow himself. New locations across, below and beyond the Sea of Thieves are also promised during the story-focused additions. The new trailer, below, gives a better idea of what to expect from the free expansion, launching 22 June.

However, I can't guarantee this type of game will be for you, since the only form of reward you'll get are cosmetics and the cartoony pirate experience. The game is def more fun to play with friends but there's loads of discord servers and Xbox LFG posts to find a crew if you don't. It's personally one of my favorite games I've ever played but that's only because I'm fine with having fun, possibly sinking, and not getting anything big from it at the end of the session. I'd say get it on Game Pass first to see if you like it ($1 for 3 months if you're new) or wait til the game drops to $20 if you plan to buy it anyways. Rare envisioned Sea of Thieves to be a "game as a service" and expected it to continue receiving updates for 10 years.

Additionally, Rare announced a special showcase for A Pirate's Life coming up this Sunday, June 20, where it provide a deep dive look at the expansion. This will feature developers from Rare talking about their work on the series, while people from Disney will appear as well to discuss how the partnership came to be in the first place. The event begins at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET on June 20; keep checking back with GameSpot for more.

You know like there is sometimes this big AAA game with elaborate story, deep progressions systems, huge production values and tons of content, yet sometimes you still find actuall gameplay a chore ? It might not have tons of content, story is non existing, same with progression outside cosmetics. Every single thing yopu are doing is just pure joy.

This means that Crews that encounter each other on the seas can choose how to play the game. They can battle it out for each other's gathered Treasure either in Ship to Ship combat by utilising the Ship's Cannons and clever maneuvering tricks or in Close Combat by utilising a variety of Weapons. The other alternative would be to work together in Player Alliances and share all the hard-earned Treasure with all the Ship Crews in the Fleet. Sea of Thieves is a Co-op and Player versus Player multiplayer game where players take on the role of Pirates sailing on the open sea looking for Treasure and battling each other. All this is to earn Gold and Reputation with various Trading Companies to work your way up to becoming a Pirate Legend. "You go to Sea of the Damned and Sunken Kingdom locations twice as part of this story," Chapman explained.

The winners would receive one of four golden bananas (each valued at £20,000) as rewards. Rare also hosted a competition which tasked fans to create achievements for the game. Several stress tests and Boom headshot betas were released ahead of the game's official launch on 17 March. At launch, many players reported that they could not log into the game. Duncan said that Rare underestimated the server capacity as the number of people logging in to play the game during the launch period was unexpectedly high. Various fixes have been released to improve the game's online infrastructure.

Combat was awful, puzzles were way too easy, misssions were all the same, and I don't enjoy going around with no objective. It is a good game if all you want to do is breathing in the atmosphere and talk with friends. Like I've said, it's fun for a little while because the core mechanics are really good but I would just use game pass while checking out some other stuff that's on it and rather not buy into it if I was you. It wouldn't be splitscreen couch co-op, but if you have an Xbox or pc each then yes you can coop it. The Dlc is free with the game and would be made up of 5 tall tales.
